Frampton Gala 1913

This photograph of the Frampton Gala is dated 1913 just before the First World War. Major Henry Francis Clifford is in the forefront, wearing a trilby hat. He went to war with the Gloucester Hussars in 1915 and was killed in the Middle East in 1917. The bridge in the background is thought to be Fretherne.

Water Polo in the canal

The second picture showing a game of water polo, and also originally entitled Frampton Gala, must be of a slightly later date. The buildings in the background are of the Cadbury Factory canteen and the house built on Bridge Road for the manager of the factory.
